Three new Reach Stacker cranes required for the operational activities of the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA), were purchased and handed over to its Logistics and Operation Divisions by SLPA Chairman Dr. Prasantha Jayamanna parallel to the 43rd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Port Authority.

The cranes had been first purchased by the SL Army and SLPA’s purchasing of the three unused cranes through SL Army was made for a cost of approximately Rs. 165 million via the approval of the Treasury that would otherwise cost approximately over Rs. 600 million according to the present market value, SLPA Chairman noted.

SLPA Chairman also noted that successful utilisation of these new machinery equipment purchased at a comparatively low rate of cost is expected to efficiently boost operational activities of the SLPA at a time where there exists difficulties to purchase such machines and equipment at high prices.
