Airport and Aviation Services Report Significant Profits

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. (AASL) has announced a remarkable operational profit of Rs. 19,315 million and a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs. 28,122 million for the financial year 2023. 

The figures highlight the company’s effective strategies and diligent efforts in maintaining operational reliability and financial success.

AASL’s total revenue for the year reached Rs. 38,376 million, whilst the company made a substantial contribution of Rs. 12,218 million to the Government coffers during the same period. This financial success underscores AASL’s leading position in the industry and its commitment to excellence in all areas of operation.

The company successfully published its Annual Report 2023 in all three languages on 31 May, adhering to the guidelines set by the Good Corporate Governance Act. 

AASL Chairman Eng. Athula Galketiya, emphasised the company’s broad commitment: “AASL’s commitment extends beyond airport operations. We provide services to international airlines and manage crucial infrastructure, including search and rescue, fire-fighting, and aviation security at our international airports. Additionally, we play a central role in air traffic services, aeronautical information services, communication services, and aeronautical aids, ensuring the safety and security of aircraft and passengers within the Colombo Flight Information Region (FIR).”

AASL manages and operates Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), Colombo International Airport Ratmalana, Batticaloa Airport, Jaffna International Airport and Sri Lanka Airport and Aviation Academy employing 3,940. 

AASL registered 7,548,646 international passenger movements in 2023 bettering on the figure of 5,503,198 in 2022, while it also felicitated international aircraft movements 46,639. Total cargo movements in the financial year was registered at 158,911 tons, while overflying movements were at 35,506.
