Australian High Commissioner visits Hambantota International Port

Australian High Commissioner Paul Stephens recently visited the Hambantota International Port and learnt about the activities and operations of the port. 

Other members of the delegation included First Secretary (Political) Shannon Murney, Research and Information Officer Trivan Annakkarage and Public Diplomacy Officer Kathya Senevirathne. High Commissioner’s wife Christina Stephens accompanied him.

HIPG Chief Operating Officer Tissa Wickramasinghe hosted the visiting delegates at the port’s Sky Lounge. They discussed HIP’s overall progress, ongoing and upcoming projects, port throughput and future business plans. The High Commissioner who was visiting the south of Sri Lanka for the first time, showed special interest in the port’s ongoing business and the value addition HIP brings to the table, which would be a winning factor for possible collaboration in future. The entourage toured the port following the discussion.
