The Africa Forum 2023 is Tackling Pertinent Supply Chain, Logistics, and Transport Issues Affecting the African Continent

The Africa forum 2023 is tackling pertinent Supply Chain, Logistics, and Transport issues affecting the African continent.

The Africa Forum is an annual event that seeks to bring together all CILT member countries in Africa and other members across the world, to network and discuss pertinent Supply Chain, Logistics, and Transport issues affecting the African continent.  The 2023 forum will be hosted by CILT Rwanda in Kigali.

At the first round, Women in Logistics and Transport conference took place this Monday to discuss their role in this area of business. This forum is under the theme “Logistics & infrastructure development as the engine for sustainable implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).”

Africa Forum 2023 happens amidst cumulative disruptive global crises that have threatened the free movement of goods and services across global supply chains and Africa in particular. While Africa is navigating its recovery phase from COVID-19 pandemic, its effects are exacerbated by developing geopolitical instability incidents internal to the continent, Russia-Ukraine war, and the unpredictable growing tension between China and Taiwan among others, which altogether particularly jeopardize Africa supply chain.

The key objectives for the forum include; to update the players in the supply chain, logistics, and transport sector on the AfCFTA agreement, the status of implementation, opportunities, and challenges under the new trade regime, and their distinct roles in the AfCFTA. Sharing global, and regional best practices and opportunities in the supply chain, logistics, and the transport sector. Sharing global practices in capacity building, training, and professionalism of the sector. Providing a platform for Business to Business (B2B) and Business Government (B2G) partnerships. Championing the participation of women in the supply chain, logistics, and the transport sector.

It is also targeting to expose local firms to regional, continental, and international supply chain, logistics, and transport practices and identifying and sharing challenges across the continent and globe. Showcasing the opportunities in logistics technologies and discussing the importance of e-commerce in logistics services. Marketing the continent as a destination for a logistics investment hub. Championing public-private sector partnership.
