A path breaking first hand engagement with Advanced Level students of a representative group of Colombo schools by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Sri Lanka was concluded recently.

This was CILT Sri Lanka’s first ever undertaking to inspire the post millennial generation to explore career opportunities in the Logistics and Transport industry.

The CILT initiative had one principal objective. To explain to the next generation in a hands-on context how the evolution of technology, the dynamics of global commerce combine to push the existing boundaries and change how the world does business today.

The response of participants who received an experiential exposure to the challenges and rewards of the logistics industry indicate that it was a resounding success.

The program was highly commended by heads of leading schools whose Advanced Level students turned up in impressive numbers.

CILT said participants who would seek avenues in the logistics industry would look back on this exposure as the pivotal point of their career path.

“The feedback of the young participants is eloquent testimony to the need of such practical programs in the school curriculum to inculcate awareness of the logistics industry. Leveraging the geography of Sri Lanka as Asia’s gateway to the world must be made integral to our national ethos. This is but a tentative step in the direction by CILT Sri Lanka,” CILT added.
