MV EVER ARM makes first call at SLPA’s Colombo East Container Terminal

The container vessel MV EVER ARM made its inaugural call at the Colombo East Container Terminal (CECT) on 5 September, marking a significant milestone for the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), which operates the terminal.

Part of Evergreen’s fleet, MV EVER ARM operates on the China-Europe-Mediterranean (CEM) route under the Taiwanese flag. Measuring 400 meters in length and 60 meters in beam, the vessel features a summer draught of 17.027 meters and an advanced propulsion system, enhancing both efficiency and cargo capacity.

Built in 2022 by Samsung Heavy Industries at their Geoje Shipyard, MV EVER ARM boasts a gross tonnage of 235,579 and a deadweight capacity of 241,960 metric tonnes. It can accommodate up to 24,000 TEUs, representing the latest in container ship design.

During the vessel’s stay at the Port of Colombo, 55-meter-high ship-to-shore cranes at CECT ensured smooth operations. After departing from Rotterdam Maasvlakte, the ship is now en route to Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

SLPA Chairman Keith D. Bernard stated, “This vessel’s call reflects the trust international shipping and logistics sectors place in the Port of Colombo’s efficiency and modern advancements. SLPA is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and competencies to meet global maritime demands.”

SLPA Additional Managing Director – Operations, Lal Weerasinghe, emphasized that the event highlights the excellence of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, showcasing CECT’s cutting-edge technology and modern infrastructure.

The successful handling of MV EVER ARM at CECT demonstrates the Port of Colombo’s capability to accommodate ultra-large container vessels, reinforcing its strategic role in global trade.

Evergreen Shipping Agency Lanka Ltd. serves as the local agent for the vessel.
